Arrivals: Y.O.U – Heavy Crown/Volvic & DyE Remix

As sweet, colourful and hip as his press release photo, Elliott Williams’ aka Y.O.U’s music is a playful mix of indie and electronic pop. Manchester born Williams claims his music has been inspired by the city of Paris, but I hear a lot of new indie America (i.e. Passion Pit) in this songs. The first single adds an element of J-Pop to the whole mosaic. Heavy Crown  is backed by equally great remixes from Junior Boys’ Jeremy Greenspan and Parisian producer and Y.O.U’s labelmate, DyE.

Oh, and Y.O.U stands for Your Own Universe. And the label is Tigersushi

Arrivals: AlunaGeorge – You Know You Like It/Your Drums, Your Love/Just A Touch

AlunaGeorge, the singer/producer duo of Aluna Francis and George Reid, are the newest talent on the block and another bright in the dark, evil pop tunnel.

Mixing the best of new British music, Aluna’s soulful vocals and the delicate d’n’b and dubstep (the good kind) hybrid with echoes of garage/2step sound of the 90’s, AlunaGeorge are creating the kind of dance pop you are not ashamed to be listening.

Together with Disclosure and Jesse Ware, AlunaGeorge are one of the best breakthrough acts of 2012. There’s a new wave of good music coming from the UK. I’m sure the specialists at NME have already a name for that.

Meanwhile enjoy the audio-visual greatness of ALUNAGEORGE!
