NoSnobsAllowed goes Film Fatale: Some Like It Hot

Tomorrow evening The Sugar Club will once again be transformed into a place of retro style and sexappeal. With the screening of Billy Wilder’s cult comedy, Some Like It Hot, the Film Fatale team and a bunch of ridiculously well dressed people will get together to pay a tribute to Hollywood’s most loved star of all time, Miss Marylin Monroe.  Unfortunately, the screening is sold out but Film Fatale’s club night, Play It Again, Sam‘s will welcome all of you who are craving the amazing atmosphere and some retro dancefloor heat FF is renowned for. Get the tickets at the door, 5 Euro each.

During afterparty conducted, as usual by Film Fatale’s resident selectors, The Andrews Sisters’ Brothers will be paying a tribute to Marylin and other Hollywood sweethearts and divas of the time.

NSA goes Film Fatale: The Philadelphia Story

After the success of yet another sold out night with All About Eve, Dublin’s finest retro cinema night (now monthly) invites you the screening of The Philadelphia Story.

Here’s a short teaser filmed during the previous one:

Also make sure to check out Film Fatale’s blog for more information about the upcoming events, the tickets, dates and times, tips on fashion and make-up from the era.

The Philadelphia Story brings three Hollywood’s screen legends together. Gary Grant, James Steward and the one and only Katherine Hepburn star in this classic, sophisticated romantic comedy from 1940. Equally funny, sexy and classy The Philadelphia Story makes the perfect choice for a Saturday night full of glamour, cocktails and retro-style after party.

As usual, the after-party will be conducted by The Andrews Sisters’ Brothers, made up of alter egos of Carousel’s Shrem and myself. Here’s few examples of what you can expect during the night’s setlist:

NoSnobsAllowed goes Film Fatale: North by Northwest

As the new season of Mad Men is upon us, why not celebrate the comeback of Don Draper and his team from the Madison Avenue in style and few cocktails and swirls on the dancefloor at the upcoming Film Fatale event. Dublin’s favourite retro cinema night is inviting you to the screening Alfred Hitchcock’s classic North by Northwest at The Sugar Club this Saturday. Cary Grant plays a dashing (m)ad man, who get caught up in a twisted espionage plot. I wonder how would Draper manage to survive such fast paced manhunt.

Here’s The Hitch himself introducing the film in his own charming way:

The after movie fine entertainment will be provided by the Dublin’s finest swinging band, Jaime and the Blue Boys, warming up the dancefloor with some jazz classics and their surprising renditions of the alternative rock anthems. They did an amazing job last time they played at FF’s after party, so expect nothing but live swing extravaganza.

Later, the after party will be the time for FF’s resident dj’s, The Andrews Sisters’ Brothers (that is humble moi and humble Pshem) to get you into serious dancing mood. The set list this time will include the famous dancefloor fillers from the 50’s and early 60’s – a mix of jazz, swing, rock’n’roll, mambo (and beyond). With the all time favourites and some forgotten gems we expect you dance the rest of the night away.

Here’s a teaser of the setlist:
