Arrivals: Big Black Delta – Side Of The Road

Los Angeles’ Jonathan Bates aka Big Black Delta premiered this track a week ago and I can’t get it out of my head since. Side of the road is massive, combing Creepy, robotic vocals, squeezing out the melodic lines borrowed off Electric Light Orchestra record, tangled around Morodoreque synthesizer drive.  Electronic indie pop at its best. Someone call Jeff Lynne and tell him that ELO are cool again. (They always have been, BTW). The single effortlessly manages to salute the synth fetish of the 80’s pop and vocal harmonies of 70’s adult rock while looking forward.

More tunes can be found on Big Black Delta’s Soundcloud. His second, selftitled album is due in April.

Below, one of the reworks for BBD’s previous single IFUCKINGLOVEYOU, prepared by Detroit techno overlord, Jimmy Edgar.
