Traveling Sounds: Asha Bhosle with RD Burman – Dum Maro Dum (live) (India)

This chilling live performance of Asha Bhosle’s biggest hit “Dum Maro Dum” has been recorded in Royal Albert Hall, London in 1978 and features RD Burman, her long time collaborator and husband. You can hear the crowd going mad with anticipation before Asha silences them with legendary “Hussssssssh” intro. Amazing performance! I wish I was there. Couldn’t get tickets and hadn’t been born yet 😉

NoSnobsAllowed goes Film Fatale: North by Northwest

As the new season of Mad Men is upon us, why not celebrate the comeback of Don Draper and his team from the Madison Avenue in style and few cocktails and swirls on the dancefloor at the upcoming Film Fatale event. Dublin’s favourite retro cinema night is inviting you to the screening Alfred Hitchcock’s classic North by Northwest at The Sugar Club this Saturday. Cary Grant plays a dashing (m)ad man, who get caught up in a twisted espionage plot. I wonder how would Draper manage to survive such fast paced manhunt.

Here’s The Hitch himself introducing the film in his own charming way:

The after movie fine entertainment will be provided by the Dublin’s finest swinging band, Jaime and the Blue Boys, warming up the dancefloor with some jazz classics and their surprising renditions of the alternative rock anthems. They did an amazing job last time they played at FF’s after party, so expect nothing but live swing extravaganza.

Later, the after party will be the time for FF’s resident dj’s, The Andrews Sisters’ Brothers (that is humble moi and humble Pshem) to get you into serious dancing mood. The set list this time will include the famous dancefloor fillers from the 50’s and early 60’s – a mix of jazz, swing, rock’n’roll, mambo (and beyond). With the all time favourites and some forgotten gems we expect you dance the rest of the night away.

Here’s a teaser of the setlist:
