Uplifting Mondays: Nuyorican Soul feat Jocelyn Brown – It’s alright, I feel it (Roni Size Remix)

NoSnobsAllowed gives you Uplifting Mondays !!!

First tune to make your Monday less hated is this juicy piece of soulful drum and bass. Nuyorican Soul was a side of the mighty house duo, Masters At Work, who teamed up with r’n’b and dance diva, Jocelyn Brown for this amazing tune. And in hands of the d’n’b master, Roni Size “It’s alright…” became a symphony of broken beats. It lasts over 13 minutes, but for me this tune could never end. Ready to take off?

Sunday Afternoon Sessions: Director’s Cut – Impress Jazz

A lost gem from my homeland. The Director’s Cut disbanded after releasing only one extremely delicious EP for an online label. Which is a pity because it sounds very promising. The comparisons to the other Polish jazz sampling, Skalpel are inevitable, but DC put equal emphasis on both, rhythm an melodies of the old Polish jazz records. The video looks bit grim, but it’s the sublime sound of Director’s Cut I want you to enjoy this Sunday.

Arrivals: Bodi Bill – Hotel/Brand New Carpet

The Berlin based electronic trio Bodi Bill are about to drop their new hot as hell album very soon.  To ease our hunger for some of their eerie, haunting tunes they are giving away the first single, “Hotel” on their Soundcloud page (download it by pressing arrow down on the player below) and sharing another track “Brand New Carpet”. “Hotel” is a soulful, quirky indie-electronica mash up with hypnotic breaks, haunting horn stabs and weird lyrics. It’s both rich and minimalistic somehow and the more I listen to this track, the deeper I fall into its surreality.

“Brand new carpet” is a bit more conventional track, but amazing too.

Bodi Bill could easily be described as a missing link between Jamie Woon and James Blake, but if you listen to the fantastic remix of “Tip toe” delivered last year by the producer extraordinaire, Siriusmo, you might agree that the band was a little bit ahead of the others. Respect for that, guys. It was also chosen as the best remix of 2011 here at NSA too.
